A total of seven people died in two separate incidents on Wednesday morning. Heavy rains battered the city from the early Wednesday morning following depression in Bay of Bengal. The sky turned dark and rains lashed and drenched the school going kids and commuters.
A family of four were killed at Ramanthapur in Uppal . The dead were identified as Balaswamy, Chinnamma, Parvathy and Shekar.
Three others, a mother and two kids were killed in a wall collapse at Bolapur, Musheerabad. They were identified as Bilkis Begum, her daughters Zeba and Mariyam.
Three to five centimeters of rain was recorded in the matter of an hour between 7 a.m and 8 a.m. It continued to rain till 10 a.m in some parts of the city. Amberpet recorded the highest of 9.5 cm. Followed by Malkajgiri 8.3 cm and Kaairathabad 6.5 cm. While other parts of the city recorded heavy rainfall.
GMHC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy instructed the engineers and deputy commissioners to take the emergency operations.
He also requested the citizen not to venture out until afternoon.
