Manor Lakes, Melbourne will be immersed in a pool of blue, yellow and white lanterns this month as the residents of Wyndham walk for charity towards Leukaemia Foundation.
The driving forces, Paul Goney and his wife Sunitha Katikala are the ones who are organising the Manor Lakes Light the Night walk; this will be held at Dalrymple Boulevard from 6pm on the 7th of October.
The participants will carry blue, white and golden coloured lanterns. White coloured lanterns represent their own journey, yellow to remember someone and blue to show they care.
Mr Goney himself is a cancer survivor. He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in July 2011. He underwent a bone marrow transplant and three rounds of chemotherapy before being given an ‘all clear’ status.
Mr. Goney desires to give back to the foundation that once helped him when he himself was suffering and going through pain. About $5000 were raised through the first Light the Night event that was hosted last year.
