We give special attention to our health in order to keep sickness away, but are our homes healthy? Did you know that your house could be a breeding ground to many germs, that lead to diseases. Here’s where you could be going incorrect.
- Lounging while watching television.
Snuggling up on a couch and watching television, after a long day at work seems tempting. But, are you thinking about your back which is bearing the stress of bad posture. Curling up carelessly on the couch will put extra pressure on your spine, which leads to backaches in the longer run. Instead, sit up, place some cushions under the back and stretch your legs in front.
- Home should be a place to calm you down.
Put up pictures that make you happy or decorate a corner with your favorite things. The idea is to create sense of calm and peace.
- Light up your home.
Lighting is a little tricky. Too much of it gives you a headache, too little makes you strain to execute the works. Make sure that plenty of natural light filters through your windows. It will not only light up the room but also add on to ventilation.
4. Rugs – Breeding ground for germs and mites.
The warmth and moisture trapped in the rugs, will act as a breeding ground for germs and molds. Vacuum often to remove dust and trapped grim.
- How good are beanbags and arm chairs?
Remember that spending hours on them can cause back pain due to wrong or faulty posture. Take regular breaks if you use them.
- Air the room.
We all use air conditioners in our bedrooms but do not forget to air out the room frequently. Monsoon brings lots of moisture and cause the growth of mildew if proper care is not taken.
- Ban electronics in bedroom.
Keep the smart phones, laptops, tablets and television away from the bedroom. The light and sound from phones not only disturb sleep but also cause stress according to studies.
- Keep bathrooms clean.
Damp breeds germs. Use a mop to dry the bathroom after every use. Exhaust fan is a good option to dry up the room.
